Dr. Carmen Caruthers, BCBA

Carmen Caruthers is a psychology postdoctoral and LEND fellow. Carmen completed both her B.A. in Psychology/Child Studies and M.Ed. in Child Studies with a specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis at Vanderbilt University. While there, Carmen was involved in the treatment and research of severe, challenging behavior in children with autism and other developmental disabilities. Carmen completed her PhD in School Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a PhD student, Carmen participated in practicum placements in school, clinic, and residential settings. She completed her APA-accredited behavioral psychology internship through rotations on a Neurobehavioral Outpatient Unit and Pediatric Feeding Disorders Program. Currently, Carmen specializes in the assessment of autism spectrum disorders and the assessment & treatment of pediatric feeding disorders. Carmen’s individual research centers on equitable access and outcomes of autism-related services in both healthcare and education for Black children and their families.
